SWIFTWATER RESCUE TECHNICIAN - Rescue 3

The Swiftwater & Whitewater Rescue Technician (SRT/WRT) courses were designed for water-based rescues, with the emphasis on rescuers aiding others while reducing risk to themselves. These courses are comprehensive & competency-based programs. Each course is delivered with a minimum of class time - skills are developed on the riverbank & in the water! This is an essential skill for commercial guides, river trip leaders, professional water-based rescue teams or anyone living or working near moving water.

BACKGROUND

The RESCUE 3 Program was developed by a group of active professionals from groups responsible for

search & rescue, paramedical treatment, river guiding, whitewater kayaking, lifesaving, and police & fire fighting services. With over 100 combined years of swiftwater experience, RESCUE 3 has a commitment to swiftwater safety & its evolution. From its head office in California, RESCUE 3's SRT and WRT programs have become the international standard in river rescue. WRT and SRT are recognized in North America by the Canadian Rivers Council, the US Lifesaving Society, and the American Canoe Association, & most commercial outdoor organizations.

 WRT I (3 Days)

Skills taught include understanding swiftwater dynamics, handling swiftwater hazards & obstacles, controlling in-water contact rescues, communicating with endangered people, setting up technical rope systems, utilizing basic rescue equipment & more.
